The feel of a palette knife in my hand, spreading oil paint like butter ~

70% manipulation / 30% magic.

This is what I love as I celebrate the beauty of creation in both landscapes and portraits. The sculptural, full-body action of large-scale knife-work makes me come alive.

It is a privilege to live in the diverse and inspirational landscape of Northern California, where I can drive 2-10 miles in any direction and set up an easel.

I am by nature an artist and a teacher, embracing the practice of being a learner. Art has always been part of my life in some way or another, and I love communicating that creativity with a canvas or a classroom.

I have enjoyed and produced art for 30+ years, teaching for over 20. While I dabble in many art forms, I purposefully hone my skills in a few. I love exploring new mediums - right now I am LOVING palette knife with oils. Whatever medium I am teaching makes me itchy to create with it! The thing is, I love to impart the JOY and FUN of art, as well as the rich history and interesting facts surrounding the amazing artists that have touched our lives and shaped our society. I believe we are all amazing individuals and our artistic expressions should reflect that truth.

There is no "right way" to do art, but there are many helpful techniques that

make those expressions more fluid and enjoyable.

My many different art classes explore mediums like acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, soft pastel, and more! Join me at my bright, newly remodeled studio in Concord, California, or virtually through Zoom to learn numerous techniques and styles! I have students from all over the San Francisco Bay Area, including Clayton, Martinez, Walnut Creek, Antioch, and Lafayette; there's a class for anybody anywhere at any skill level!

I also lead single-sitting paintings for your group of any size - at your location or virtually, whether you are attempting to spice up your party agenda, wanting your employees to bond through team-building, or just trying to find a fun activity to do with your friends. Relaxing, creating, and chatting is a great way to bring people together. You can choose from my current library of projects or I can create one just for your event. Contact me and we can work out the details!
